A major outage affecting Microsoft services has caused widespread disruptions across the globe, impacting critical businesses and services such as airlines, hospitals, train networks, and TV stations. As of 11:00 BST, around 110,000 commercial flights were scheduled worldwide, but aviation analytics company Cirium reported that 1,390 had been canceled due to the outage.
The outage, which began Wednesday, is linked to an update from cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike. Microsoft has issued an apology for the inconvenience, acknowledging that the chaos caused by the outage could last for days. The disruption has also affected Windows IT systems, exacerbating the impact on organizations worldwide.
The Microsoft service health status page has been updated with a new URL, and the company has stated that they are actively working on resolving the issue. However, the extent and duration of the outage remain uncertain, leaving businesses and consumers scrambling to minimize the impact on their operations and services.
