How to Remove Acrylic Nails at Home
Without Damaging Your Natural Nails
Are you stuck with grown-out acrylic nails and no salon appointment scheduled? Don't worry, you can remove them at home without damaging your natural nails.
The key to removing acrylic nails safely is to use acetone. Acetone is a solvent that breaks down acrylic, making it easy to remove. However, acetone can also be harsh on your skin, so it's important to take precautions.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to remove acrylic nails at home:
Step 1: Gather your supplies.
- Acetone nail polish remover
- Cotton balls or pads
- Aluminum foil
- Orange stick or cuticle pusher
- Buffer
Step 2: File the top of the nails.
This will help the acetone penetrate the acrylic more easily.
Step 3: Soak your nails in acetone.
Saturate cotton balls or pads with acetone and place them on your nails. Wrap each nail in aluminum foil to hold the cotton in place.
Step 4: Wait 15-20 minutes.
The acetone will start to break down the acrylic.
Step 5: Remove the foil and cotton.
Use an orange stick or cuticle pusher to gently scrape away the softened acrylic.
Step 6: Buff your nails.
This will remove any remaining acrylic and smooth out the surface of your nails.
That's it! Your acrylic nails are now removed. Be sure to moisturize your nails and cuticles afterwards to help them recover from the acetone.
