A widespread cyberattack has hit Microsoft, disrupting Windows users worldwide and grounding planes due to IT outages at airports.

The outage, which began on Thursday and continued into Friday, has been blamed on a software update by cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike. The update has resulted in many Windows PCs experiencing "blue screen of death" errors.

Planes have been grounded as several airports are hit by the global IT outage. Windows PCs shutting down have also caused problems for broadcasters and businesses.
